There's a mammoth in the atrium!
In the atrium at work they set up a woolly mammoth and a woolly rhino. These are actual fossils, not reproductions. Both are from Siberia, and are 10 - 15 thousand years old. The rhino is cute, he's like the little puppy sidekick for the mammoth. They're for sale, too. For $150,000 you can have one for your very own.

2/10/09 Snow in Tucson
It made a bit of snow in Tucson today. Some parts of town got a decent amount, but at my house there was very litte, as you can see.
I took this pic of the Catalinas as I was driving home for lunch.
The parking garage at work was full due to the gem show, so I had to park on the upper deck. The parking situation did afford a nice view of the Unisource Tower.

Bisbee trip
I went to Bisbee today to fix some printers. On the way through the Mule Mountains, the clouds were rolling in FAST, and it was getting very ominous, very quickly.
A couple hours later, everything was sunny and bright. Here's the Copper Queen Hotel in Old Town Bisbee. Place is haunted, they say. I stayed there once, and didn't see/hear squat.
The Mule Mountains in the rear-view.

Do not bleach? Drip dry in shade? This tag is on my child's swimsuit. While wearing this suit she is going to be swiming in a pool that is loaded with chlorine, a popular ingredient in many bleaches from what I understand. After she's done that for an hour or so, she'll drag herself out onto the pool deck and lay in the sun for a while. Oh, and when that's all done she may very well remove the suit and wring out the residual moisture, another taboo according to this tag. I guess I should look on the bright side. At least I don't have to dry clean the thing.

Kevin called me up Saturday evening with a bit of panic in his voice. "Dude, I, uh, might need you to uh, do me a huge favor."
"Sure, what is it?" I replied.
"There's, uh, there's blood all over the inside of my truck," he states, sounding even more frantic.
Oh crap, I think to myself. He's gone off the deep end, killed somebody, and now he wants me to help him bury a body out in the desert.
"I, uh, cut myself and there's blood all over the place and I'm still bleeding pretty badly," he says.
Oh thank God, no bodies.
Once I realized there was no foul play involved, I triaged him over the phone, directed him in applying direct pressure and decided I wasn't going to need to rush over and take him to the emergency room. After the bleeding was stopped, I got the complete story out of him (in chronological order this time) of how he managed to do this. Apparently he had a couple of 5-gallon glass jugs in the jump seat of his truck and one tipped over. He reached back to right it, not knowing it had broken into several large pieces. The pic above is the mess he made after it sliced his hand in three places. Lovely, eh?
